1941 Yale Electric Boom Crane

This early 1940’s vintage Yale crane, a Model K31A-6, is the oldest electric Yale product in existence. As you can tell by one of the pictures, this type of electrical (Battery Powered) industrial truck was used for a myriad of factory tasks during World War Two. Some of the larger models were being used to hoist Pratt & Whitney engines onto aircraft.  This particular crane has always been in the New Haven & Fairfield area and is thought to have possibly been originally used at Chance Vought during the war.

We would like to thank  Eric Perler, President of Industrial Trucks, Inc. in North Haven CT for arranging the generous donation to the museum.
